I don’t think you can lose when you mix live bluegrass music, popsicles and picnics. For these reasons and more, Cliftonites and the rest of Uptowners LOVE the Clifton Cultural Arts Center’s Wednesdays on the Green, a summer series of live music from 7PM-9PM every Wednesday. You can bring your family, your alcoholic drink of choice, and your dancing shoes. Last night the Cincinnati-famous Jake Speed and the Freddies played a knock out show. My favorite part was of course the stories Jake tells in between songs about meeting his wife back when they both worked at the Esquire Theater. I am such a sap for Cincinnati love stories… alright, any love story. Topping off my evening was a delicious plum basil popsicle from Street Pops, along with the bubbles handed out by the CCAC to all attendees. You have to love it when you see a field full of people from ages 3 to 93 blowing bubbles.
Last night was sadly the CCAC’s last Wednesday on the Green for this summer. But do not fret, on August 11th Shakespeare in the Park will be presenting a free show on the green, “The Tempest”. Get excited! Until then, I’ll excuse you for leaving uptown to go downtown to snag one of these.
